When you support Cash for Kids in your area, the money you raise stays in your area, helping local children and young people who need it most. That’s our promise to you.

Local support that makes a real difference

Cash for Kids helps children and young people affected by poverty, illness, neglect or additional needs, giving them the support they need to thrive.

That support looks different for every child. It could mean specialist equipment that gives a child greater independence, essentials for a family struggling to make ends meet, or funding for a local charity or community group providing vital services and opportunities.

Whatever the need, when you donate or fundraise in a Cash for Kids area, the money raised there stays there.

That means money raised in Greater Manchester helps children in Greater Manchester. Money raised in North Scotland helps children in North Scotland. And the same promise applies across each of our local areas.

Because we believe the generosity of a community should benefit the children and young people who live there.

How do we make sure it stays local?

Our local Cash for Kids teams know the communities they serve and the challenges children and families are facing.

We provide grants to individual children and families, as well as local charities, schools, community groups and other organisations supporting children who need our help.

We track the donations we receive by area using postcodes, so the money raised locally can be used to make a difference locally.

What about Mission Christmas gifts?

Every Christmas, Mission Christmas collects thousands of gifts for children who might otherwise have nothing to open on Christmas morning.

Across most of our areas, the same local principle applies to the physical gifts you donate: gifts collected locally are sorted and distributed to children in that area.

There are currently four areas where Mission Christmas gifts work a little differently: Greater London, the South East, East of England, and South West & Cornwall.

We don’t yet have the local staff and logistics needed to collect, sort and distribute large volumes of physical gifts directly in these areas. Instead, gifts are given to trusted charity partners who distribute them on our behalf to children where the need is greatest. This means a physical gift donated in one of these four areas may help a child elsewhere.

Cash donations and Christmas gifts donated online via our Gift List are different. When you donate money to your local Cash for Kids area, it remains ring-fenced for children and young people in that area.
